Zen and the Art of Ceramics

A Two-Sunday Series – October 20 & 27

Silently and serenely one forgets all words.

Clearly and vividly, it appears before you.

When one realizes it, it is vast and without edges.

-- Hongzhi Zhengjue

Is the bowl in the clay, in the artist’s hands, or in the mind? From somewhere within us the object appears. We touch the silent clay, and intuitive perception begins creation. Making the invisible visible. Come and explore the ceramics studio and find a hands-on expression of practice.

These sessions are for all active sangha members regardless of any previous ceramic experience, and offers something new to those who did the March series.

Leading our ceramic study is Barbara Bobes. Barbara has been creating ceramics for over 45 years and led the building of Zen Center’s ceramics studio. We will be making pieces for use at Zen Center, and for sale at the Farm Stand. Come join in this direct, creative experience.

When you register it is for both Sunday October 20 and Sunday October 27. The fee is $25 and covers both sessions. Registration funds cover the expense of materials (clay, glaze, etc.) and utilities. Participation in Zen Center’s Sunday program is required.

Registration closes on October 13.
